What is Woke? What are the key concepts?
yWoke attempts to answer these questions as simply and objectively as possible, acknowledging that objectivity here is probably an illusion for us all.
More information is provided via evolving FAQs (frequently asked questions) below.
Who is the target audience of yWoke?
We are aiming at people who really don’t understand what is referred to by woke and/or what key concepts typically related to woke, and who really would like a simple explanation without to much bias.
Aren’t there lots of other sources to get this understanding?
No, at least not objectively. Most information you find takes quite a polarized standpoint on these concepts.
This site is referred to as ‘minimalist’ so what does that mean?
A popular movement in visual art, music, architecture, and in more recent time with lifestyles, minimalism basically seeks to remove clutter and strip subjects down to the minimal core elements. We view this as useful when discussing woke as there is so much extra clutter added to discussions around this topic.
Why isn’t there a comments section on yWoke so I can have my say?
There are many places to comment and debate woke concepts, particularly social media, but the intent for this site is just to provide some basic information for those that find it useful.
Do the authors have any formal academic qualifications in this area?
No. Unless of course you count the university of life.
Is it fair that the authors have the privilege of this platform for sharing views that other don’t have?
It cost less than $100 US per year to stand up a basic website with domain addresses, and is quite easy for people to create their own with very little prior knowledge. Yes for some this will still be a barrier, but social media is also a highly accessible platform for people.
